hoher Chaparral

Ms. Davis was so sad to miss the opening of the great Lygia Lewis at Gropius Bau, but she was still in NYC involved with the public program at MoMa PS1.
Because of some other commitments and what not our little lady Vagimule didn´t get a chance to see the exhibit I´m Not Here Forrrrr... until its last day January 18th. She was under the wrong impression that the run of the exhibition was going to be until March. As such she missed out on the live performance Wayward Chant, but did manage to spend quality time with the video, A Plot, A Scandal. The beauty of gesture and supplication is the only way resistance to modern day forces of repression can be addressed. Perfect dazzling visuals and sumpteous music by Twin Shadow. What more do you need?

Water Will (in Melody) A soundscape in a feral womb forcing one to undergo a highly intense reflection mode, and with the dulcet voices of La Lewis, Dani Brown and Susanne Sachsse there is no safer place in our mad, mad world.

Deader than dead- I will kill you dead, but before it comes to that let´s do the Madison, The Latin Hustle-Dominican Style, and some HBC stepping stone while speaking in truncated tongues. Hullabaloo mixed with a little late 1960s era Kathryn Kuhlman will always send me into overdrive, plus getting to behold Ms. Lygia Lewis, Jaspar Marsalis, Jasmine Orpilla and Austyn Rich-- Divoon!

Die schmale Ecke

Primelpathogen

The young, beautiful Swedish artiste Maria Norrman is the new Maya Deren with her experimental films that not only remind one of the great Deren´s work but also the Canadian early cinema feminist Nell Shipman.

Her latest project

concentrates on the obscure Swedish female impersonator John Lind and his wife and manager Stephanie Lind. This new short subject gem is very elegant in the way it takes its sweet time with exacting focus. Playing Lind is actor and ballet dancer Corrado di Lorenzo who reminded me of George de la Pena who played Nijinsky in the 1980 Herbert Ross directed bio pic. Not only does Ms. Norrman act and direct but she has designed some superlative costumes, and props. When you see the film you´ll have to judge for yourself whether Ms. Norrman´s costuming is more Theoni V. Aldredge or Walter Plunkett.
