LUG UND TRUG
After Commie Biggie rehearsal went to dinner with Muslim Daniel Hendrickson and Zack Blas, the sweet West Virginia Appalachian Mountains phd student from Duke University. We decided to check out a KreuzKoelln Indian restaurant that was inexpensive and quite tasty. Zach is in Berlin to participate in a Cyber Feminist workshop that is part of the Transmedial Festival. Young Zachary delighted us with talltales and misadventures including a stint in Chiapas, Mexico performing with some indigenious artists and having a roughhouse affair with a well hungariac Zapatista—ole!
Berlin is experiencing at the moment an early Arctic chill. If its this cold in Autumn what can we expect in the dead of winter, which makes me excited that I will be returning to Los Angeles in January for my West of Rome/Getty/Pacific Standard Time Commission piece that unfortunately won’t be happening at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library in the West Adams District. I am now setting my sights on the Historic Bullocks Wilshire Building near LaFayette Park, hoping that I can use their Coco Chanel Room or legendary tea parlour. The Building is now owned by the Southwest Law School and is used as their Law Library. Please keep your fingers, toes and legs crossed for me that Bullocks Wilshire becomes my new site specific location.
Just before I started rehearsing with Commie Biggie I had breakfast at Café Berio’s in Nollendorky Platz with one of my lovely young Southern California co-eds Connor Flanagan, who collaborated with me early in the year in Los Angeles at MoCa with my performance piece Dejecta. Connor just turned 21 and is as fresh as a Nebraska cornfield, even though he originally hails from suburban Minneapolis. He is doing a study abroad program in London, and had come to see me perform at the Tate Modern. Connor took a study break for a Berlin getaway and wound up having so much fun in the German capital that he missed his plane back to England. That’s what happens when you wind up in the clutches of Frauelein Chantal of the infamous Chantals’s House of Shame. I’m happy to report that with juicy lovesexxxy radiant youth like Connor in this forsaken world there is still a glimmer of hope for the future.
Just heard that Roy Rogers the singing cowboy star died age 99. He was quite handsome when he was young and a spiffy country&western style dresser. Also LouLou de la Falaise the muse of Yves Saint Laurent passed. She was born in 1948 making her a few years older then my sister Teresa. I always get LouLou and Inez de la Falaise mixed up.
Was looking at my appointment calendar and noticed that I never wrote anything on the blogette about the going away party of personable, young South Afrikan film programmer Darryl Els who was visiting Berlin on a fellowship during the late spring and summer. This evening took place several weeks ago between the short time of my trips to Los Angeles for the West of Rome Trespass Art Parade and Party and my leaving to the UK and Spain. Arsenal Empress Stefanie Schulte Strathaus was the gracious hostessa as the charming gathering was held at her lovely and spacious compound off of Gneisenauer Str in South Kreuzberg. Enjoying the festivities: Handsome Uli Ziemons of Forum Expanded with his gigantic penis Harry Bert Fassbinder---Uli’s genitals are so large they come with their own zip code, Nanna Heidenreich of Arsenal Experimental who made some delicious homefries, DJane Olga Damnitz, Marietta Kesting of bbooks kollective, Stefan Pethke, k-Johnny & Tim Blue, Daniel Hendrickson the Jewish Muslim, the great musician and composer Eunice Martin, Markus Ruff & Tanja Horstmann of Living Archive Project, Dietmar Hochmuth, Oksana Bulgakowa and Tobias Hering.
I also forgot to mention that I had a romantic sex date with my Saarbrucken scientist which involved a secret rendezvous at a Mitte Hotel and then he took me out for a fabu dinner at Inside Thai Restaurant on Dirckenstrasse 37. I always love to eat after a voracious bout of hot primal sex.
On the way to rehearsal on the U-bahn Thursday morning I ran into Cecile the Scandinavian co-curator of the X-Schulen project from two summers ago. She is either rehearsing a project at the Ufer Studios where we are rehearsing Commie Biggie or she has an artist studio—I don’t remember exactly what she said, and it really doesn’t matter. We were pleasant and civil to each other, but she is one of those careerist types that I really don’t trust. After rehearsals Susie, Nazli and I had luncheon at the rehearsal studio café which is nice and atmospheric with delicious in-expensive food. I had a bean & guacamole soup with rucula risotto and Susi had the carrot & garnelan soup. We were joined by kJohnny Blue, and later bumped into Felix the young lighting designer from the old CHEAP club at Podeville.
Friday morning had a very productive rehearsal with kJohnny Blue at his studio in KreuzKoelln where we worked on re-adapting one of my old Afro Sister songs from the 1980s for Commie Biggie. I loved kJohnny’s spare backing track that he has come up with and he may add some bass lines to it just to oomph the ante. Poor kJohnny had to deal with some icky musician types who rehearse below his flat at this trendy bar that use to be a crusty Kneipe.
Just re-watched a copy of The Chicken Chronicles from 1977 that Love Camel made me. This teen sex comedy stars a very young Steven Guttenberg at his most nubile, fresh faced and big fat tittied. In his youth he sure had a mighty fine rack and was a Jewish dreamboat and true Prince of Judea if ever there was one. I remember seeing him on the campus of UCLA back in the mid to late 70s when I was part of the Upward Bound program. He would be shirtless wearing Dolphin shorts which leave nothing to the imagination. Seeing him on campus nearly naked I would just about pass out from lust of his ripe, muscular, hairy bod. Yes he was just that divine. The film The Chicken Chronicles also stars comedian Phil Silvers, black ingénue Kutee who was a star on the PBS children’s series The Righteous Apples along with E.G. Daily (Pee Wee’s Big Adventure)and Branscombe Richmond a very humpy dork, thick dark haired euroasian actor who never really went anywhere but should have.
Mr. Guttenberg is a middle aged man these days, but still has a muscled physique though he has the face of an elderly nebbish. Last time I ran into Steven Guttenberg at the airport he was acting all mack daddy. I remember back in the late 70s and early 80s he was quite the womanizer, but because of his big dick arrogance and humungous ego he also liked to tease men, and was quite friendly with Merv Griffin and several other big power moguls of the era. I’m sure these old gents got to chow down royally on his pretty wank and scarf at his bubble butt garden salad.
Just heard that the Natalie Wood murder,--- I mean accidental death of 1981 is being re-opened because of some new evidence. Hopefully the truth about Christopher Walken and Natalie’s husband Robert Wagner will finally emerge. I can’t believe its been 30 years since she drowned. Like the late Ms. Wood I don’t know how to swim, so you’ll never see me hanging around any yachts.
Alexander Payne has a new movie coming out called The Descendents starring George Clooney. Mr. Payne lived near Larchmont Village off of Western Avenue and Saint Andrews Place when I lived in Korea Town in the 1990s. His next door neighbor was Michael Monk of the Monk Bros and Monk Magazine fame who told me stories of how the director turned all Hollywood with a different blonde bimbo on his arm every week once he became a major hot property after the success of his films Election and Sideways. Mike Monk even told me that the guy wanted my telephone number to take me as his date to the Academy Awards ceremony when he was nominated and won. He wanted to use me as the ultimate publicity stunt. His new film is set in Hawaii which is the worse place on the planet. I have only been there once when I was on tour with Margaret Cho on her Notorious C.H.O. Tour in 2001, but we did all the islands and the place is beautiful, but I hate island resort hotels. If you don’t play golf or like to snorkel its really quite dull. Thankfully I will never have the opportunity to see Hawaii again.
Went around the corner to my local little cinema house Xenon to see the British sensitive gay flicker Weekend directed by Andrew Haigh that features a very good looking dark haired bearded lad with expressive eyes named Tom Cullen and another young man Chris New not so expressive. I was more interested in the relationship of the gay and his straight best friend then the romantic coupling, but everything always sounds a lot better with an English accent. The tiny theatre was packed so I guess this film is resonating with someone.

JONATHAN BERGER, THE HOUSE OF THOUGHT, 2011 (SINCE 1980)
NOVEMBER 18 - DECEMBER 1, 2011
OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2011, 6-8PM
The House of Thought is one version of an autobiography, rooted in part in the work that I do, and largely in the impact of that which I have encountered and remains on my mind. This is a personal history, which begins in 1980 and is read through the lens of the past year.
The House of Thought includes 100 subjects; an assembly of things that I have been thinking about, researching, collecting, working with, reading, making, looking at, listening to, revisiting, and supporting.
These 100 subjects exist as a complete collection, in a certain sense evolving from an interest in the 16th and 17th century formats of the Wunderkammer and Kunstkammer, with which I have been preoccupied for some time. I hope that this group of materials as a whole will offer my notion of what significance can be, and a prismatic and non-hierarchical way of thinking.
While I am the author of the collection, each subject remains it’s own author.
Many of these materials presented are related in some way to various future projects, which are planned for 2013-2015 and presently under construction. This is the first time that I am sharing any aspect of my process. It is an experiment; an exercise in trust and vulnerability; in making the transitional and fragile process of thought public.
My most sincere gratitude to each of the people attached to the materials I have included and the artists who have made them. Thank you for your generosity, for being who you are and doing what you do.

Just got an emug from the great UK performance legend Franko b. who needs help with his ver important new work. Just because Franko is a big name in performance doesn't mean he has any money so we should all support him with sending money. Every little bit helps and Franko is certainly deserving as he is one of the sweetest, purest and most dearest of my art shtar friends. Read the info below and re-act:

HUGO CHAVEZ ATE MY HAMPSTER
Still suffering from a bit of the flu caught on the plane ride back to Berlin. Very sorry my blog posts have been so fractured, but with Commie Biggie rehearsals I am running on empty. Film Historian Marc Siegel sent me a lovely little email which i have reposted below. I forgot some names of people who were at our events in Barcelona. Once again I apologize to all and when i start feeling better hopefully i can get my poor self together.
Just thought of some people for you to mention in your blog:
In Barcelona: Carles Congost,(who gifted Marc and I copies of his delicious art book Say I'm Your Number One), the nice lesbianas who wanted your autograph, Anna Diaz and Maria Mallol, former CHEAP gossip studio collaborators who are now video makers (anna) and working with hip Spanish queer star, writer, curator, theorist Beatriz Preciado (maria) also Alaska, the famous transsexual who starred in early Almodovar films, and the sexy Israeli lookalike of Aasof Hochman who was with Carles, some hot mysterious Galician couple who run an 8mm film festival in an abandoned prison.
I also forgot to mention that Marc and I on our last day in Barcelona saw the sound exhibition at the Museu D'Arte Contemporani of Berlin artist Natascha Sadr Haghighian who is the roommate of Senol Senturk and Olga Damnitz.
While in London i was taken to a bunch of charming eateries like the Mexican Margarita hut Cafe Pacifico and the Mexy all-you-can-eat buffet Mestizo by angel of light The Love Camel who never lets his doll down. Camel also created a sophisticate and unusual exotic collage of music for my Tate Modern performance. I had some nice greasy spoon breakfasts at The Cat & The Cucumber on Tower Bridge Road where the most delicate male waiter in the world served me. Also enjoyed scrumpteous fish &chips on the east end at Poppies which is also a tequila bar and drank the best capucino at Bar Italia in SoHo. Special thanks to gorgeous Stuart Comer the film curator at Tate Modern who took us to a New Zealand hamburger joint where i feasted royally on a lamb cheeseburger with bedazzling onion rings. And here's a royal shout out to Tate Modern staffers the beautiful Cappucine who is one highly organized production coordinator, and humpy techies Dan & Rowan. Next time I am in London i have to suck the big white penis of Dan who is one tall robust drink of UK spring water.
And thanks to all the celebutants who came to my performance: Handsome Craig of Flash Art, Lee Adams of Club Kaos& crew, the divine Franko b and his boyfriend Tom, Ernesto Tomasini, big papa Ron Athey, Nando Messias, white British rapper Professor Green, Annie Oakley of Sex Workers Art Show with Beth Dito and members of the hot band Gossip, NYU professor Tavia Nyongo, Anna Muelter of HAU,Gavin Butt, Lois Keidan, Adrian Heathfield, Cally Spooner, Lewis Church, scholar Jack Halberstam, enigmatic artist Oreet Ashery who conducted an intense workshopwith students in the grunewald, videographer Joe E. Jeffries and literary figurine Bruce Benderson. I hope i havent forgotten anyone else. Trashing Performance was the second year of Performance Matters a collaboration between Live Art Development Agency, Goldsmith University of London and University of Roehampton.
My first week in London i had the flying patooties(diarhea) so i missed seeing Dr. Jennifer Doyle's presentation and several other highlights of the Performance Matters Art Festival. I also didnt get a chance to see my lesbiana girlfriend Carmelita Tropicana and her Fem Museum piece as I was doing my dress rehearsal on the same day and time. I was happy i got the chance to hear that genius genius Bruce Benderson in conversation with bratty Dominic Johnson. I can't blame Dominic for turning into a monster. Ron Athey and I were the ones who encouraged him. Thankfully Franko b doesn't feed the beast and keeps him in his place as a talented writer and academic.
And for all you visitors to Berlin my sweet friend Katja sent me this note of a major event happening soon that you may enoy:
on the 24th nov. in SO36 : CLUB BURLESQUE BRUTAL

And for all you visitors to Berlin my sweet friend Katja sent me this note of a major event happening soon that you may enoy:
on the 24th nov. in SO36 : CLUB BURLESQUE BRUTAL
they come from vienna, they will perform for the first time in berlin an extremely sexy show about queer/femme/lesbian desires & fantasies...

GRACE METALIOUS
Back in cold bleak and dreary Berlin. Caught a nasty flu on the plane ride from Barcelona so its making rehearsals for Commie Biggie a bit difficult for the doll. Our rehearsal studio is in Wedding at the Ufer Studios on Ofer Strasse and is a glorious old spacious location sitting right smack on the canal. Its so lovely working with Fearless Leader of CHEAP Susi Su, kJohnny Blue and Nazli.
Barcelona was delightful. Xperimenta '11 was a major success and all the programs that i witnessed as part of Xentric Festival at the Centre of Cultural Contemporania De Barcelona (CCCB)were very engaging. I liked Matthias Mueller's talk Thieves Like Me. Herr Mueller is really pussy whipped by the art world though, the poor dear.
I was still majorly exhausted from London so i didnt get a chance to seeMatthias Mueller's film program as i had to retire to the comforts of the Hotel Jazz and catch up on some missed sleep. I also didn't see the program Projecting Projection by American filmmaker's Sandra Gibson and Luis Recorder though Marc Siegel and I ran into them at breakfast at the hotel and had a pleasant chittle chattle with the two artists who i thought were in their twenties but they are both in their early 40s. Ms. Gibson use to be a model which is very apparent. The couple are the Misshapes of the experimental film world. I did catch a bit of their final film program (Over)Exposure:Archeology of Light which is very old school experimental film.
I was majorly crushing on gorgeous Venezuelan Cristobal, who is a young student who was working for the festival. The beautiful Lara, a sexy Brazilian bombshell beat the perfect face for the doll and also styled my hair. I also thought the Elm the tech supervisor was a bit of a hungthrob.
My Memory Island performance went much butter at Xperimenta then at the Tate Modern, but Marc Siegel and his George Kuchar screening at Tate and Carte Blanche screening at Xperimenta were huge delights for both the UK and Spanish audiences who couldnt get enough of the Marcu curatorial touch. It was so nice meeting Carolina Lopez the director of film programming for Xentric, Miguel Fernandez La Bayen and Antoni Pinent the co-curators and the hardest working woman of the festival Gloria Vilches who heads the department of audiovisuals and multimedia. La Gloria is a dream to work with and is good friends with Dr. Jennifer Doyle's hot Spanish surfer pal Adria who came to see not only my program but Marc Siegel's and Adria is just as sexxy as i remember him from when we went to Malibu together back in September of 2010. I was surprised to see Viggo Mortenssen at my performance. He was in town doing a play and brought with him the Bollywood actor Saif Ali Kahn. Viggo's son Henry by Exene Cervenka of the punk band X is now in college. I remember him when he was just a baby and i use to rock him to sleep when Exene and I use to do spoken word performances together. When i first met Viggo Mortenssen he was just a struggling actor and his wife Exene was the huge star.
I promise to write more about being in London, and let you know all about the celebs who came to my performance, but my nose is stopped up so i must end here for now and head to the apotheke for some nasal medicine.

LES EDATS DE HOLLYWOOD,QUASI UN DELICTE
The poor Vagimule doll is still exhausted from olde London town and my workshops with the phd students of Goldsmith College. Left England in the morning and arrived in Barcelona where i was whisked from the aeroport by lovely Lara Navarro, the assistant of Gloria Vilches of Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona. They put me in the beautiful Jazz Hotel and fed me and my CHEAP collegue Marc Siegel. I could barely keep awake during the lecture by Matthias Mueller--thats how tired I am with so little sleep from all my responsibilities in London. After dinner i had to skip the Mueller screening and jump into my California King sized bed. In the morning i had the delicious free breakfast and will write all about being in London and my Tate Modern performance as soon as I get an adapter for my lap top which is running on empty. So sorry for going so long without regular updates but it just couldn't be helped.

THE WAR ON ERROR
The Vagimule doll is exhausted beyond belief after an intense Framing the Freakazoid workshop process with a spirited, gifted group of young sexy tyro artists here in London that was part of the Performance Matters Arts Festival and Live Art Development Agency. The workshop took place at the Toynbee Studios Court Room which is a beautiful Victorian Hall that use to be a children's courtroom that prosecuted street urchins and artful dodger types. After 7 hour days of rumination with my co-facilitators Jonathan Berger the visionary young New York based artist & curator and juicy Lewis Church the 23 year old dark ginger Jewish hungthrob, the efforts paid off royally in a wild installation/performance called The Lesbian Seperatist Junior League of Freak Nations Summit. We presented some historicals that we felt would inspire and did just that. You can't go wrong with Kembra Pfahler, Nina Simone, William Blake, Exuma, Andy Kaufman, Reza Abdul, Peter Schumann, Superstudio, Dolemite, sculptural outsiders: Annie Hooper, James Hampton and the likesis of The Tired Danielle and Goddess Bunny.
The participants in the workshop: Allie Carr, Beth Leticia Savage, Fatima Serghini, Jason Graham, Jian Yi, Laura Adamson, Owen Parry, Pavlos Kountouriotis, Rebecca Weeks and Sara Zaltash are destined to become the next generation of Rising Art Shtars.
Now the performance/installation part of it was beyond wicked. Featuring walks of high shame, show girl theory, conjuring of voice, alien anal sex fiending, Put the Blame on Mame from Gilda, and endurance masturbating----what could go wrong?
After the piece the entire company along with big daddy Ron Athey, Lois Keiden, Gavin Butt and Adrian Heathfield retired to to a Kurdish boite for drinks and feasting. The restaurant was picked by Laura Adamson as she had quite a dramatic encounter earlier in the week with the places chef when she was doing field research surveillance as part of my art stalking exercise. Art stalking always produces inspirational results.

The other evening Tara aka: Annie Oakley of the Sex Workers Art Show who is also the manager of pop punk sensations Gossip and her love sexy beau treated the doll to a fancy dinner at Hawksmoor, the British steakhouse and cocktail bar. I felt like i was at the Pacific Dining Car in downtown LA slurping down vodka gimlets, flawless pieces of sweat meats, divine mash potatoes, and cream spinach. Ms. Oakley was looking supermodel fresh and she and the band have been living in England off and on for months. They started working on a new album with pretty boy Mark Ronson producing but he had to be fired as his love entanglements with two girlfriends and a wife became too much to put up with. On a similar note i was a bit shocked that Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth left Kim Gordon for a chunky but funky version of Hope Sandevol of Mazzy Starr. I always expected him to leave Kim for a gay stripper or Chelsea gymbot. Wonders never disease.

ICH FÜHLE MICH GESUND
Rising Stars Falling Stars 4 year anniversary was a smashing success. The screening of Prix de Beaute´starring Louise Brooks was phenomenal thankx to the musical accompanyment of the great Eunice Martin on klavier. After the screening the reception was at the CHEAP Gossip Studio circular bar in the atrium of the Filmhaus. Seen schmoozing and having a grand olde time:Arsenal Empress Stefanie Schulte Strathaus who will be leaving for Kiev and Cairo soon spreading the gospel of experimental film around the known and unknown world, Uli Ziemons of Forum Expanded, Nanna Heidenreich of Arsenal Experimental, Nadja Talmi of Haus of Culture de Welt, Marietta Kesting of bbooks, Katja Maja aka: Katja von Hellendorf with Cristian Forte of the rock bands Piss Göttin and Leiseylento, exotic male model Dudley O´Shaughnessy, artist Maggie Schneider, legendary prima ballerina Beatrice "Trixie" Cordua, sexy French chanteuse Zazie de Paris, Manuel Schubert of Film Highlights Internet Radio Magazine, Tielemachos Alex who did the makeup and hair for Ms. Davis who was wearing a striking Rick Owens gown, film historian Marc Siegel, Daniel Hendrickson the Jewish Muslim and Darryl Els, the personable South Afrikan film programmer who leaves Berlin soon to return to Johannisberg. Mr. Els wants to bring the CHEAP kollective to his country, and I think that would be a splendid idea.

HELLO STINKPOT
Rising Stars, Falling Stars four year anniversary CHEAP list announcement from film historian Marc Siegel below and Filmhighlights radio interview:
(English below)
Liebe CHEAP Freunde!

Dear Cheap Friends,
OK. This is now in English. It's been a while since I've sent you one of these CHEAP mails. Computer problems, stupid Email programs and procrastination got in the way. Even though I wasn't here to tell you what to do this summer, I still hope you made it to Venice to see the unstoppable Susanne Sachsse as the tragic yet defiant Rivka in Yael Bartana's fantastic installation "…And Europe Will Be Stunned" which graced the Polish Pavilion with the challenge of the Jewish Renaissance Movement in Poland. If you didn't get to that seductive sinking city, then try to do so before November 27.
I'm writing now, because this Sunday, October 16 at 9:15 pm, the voluptuous volatile Vaginal Davis is celebrating the 4th anniversary of that internationally celebrated erudite ejaculation that we call Rising Stars, Falling Stars! Yes, it's hard to believe that Miss Davis manages to beat on a face monthly for four years and harder to believe that we show up to ogle her! But beat on she does and ogle we do and for good reason: we like it like dat! So get on your Fall fineries and join Miss D and all of us to celebrate the RSFS-way: with twinken, flirten, sexen und lutschen, in the Kino 2 at the Arsenal and in the alcoholic Red Foyer after the film. And what a film it is: Sparkling Louise Brooks in Augusto Genina's PRIX DE BEAUTÉ (Miss Europe, F 1930) , accompanied by the RSFS award-winning accompanist Eunice Martins!

-Don't miss Susanne Sachsse in what is sure to be a fascinating new piece by Vegard Vinge and Ida Müller at the Volksbühne/Prater.It's called John Gabriel Borkman and it's by that Norwegian guy Ibsen. Premiere (sold out because the Volksbühne is lame and keeps all the tickets for boring theater people and the press). But it will run on Fridays and Sundays in repertoire until people get sick of it.
-Get ready for a new CHEAP Production: Communist Bigamist. Two Love Stories by Susanne Sachsse (lots of plugging for Sachsse these days). This piece brings together for the first time in a while a lot of your CHEAP favorites and your favorite CHEAPs! Premiere: Dec. 8 HAU, Berlin

CLOSELY WATCHED BLONDINES
MarLou DeLuna who works as a lawyer for the beleaguered State of California and her lawyer husband Hal Marenus fetched me yesterday evening and took me to a late night munch session at the celebrated Canter’s Deli on Fairfax Avenue. I haven’t eaten at the Jewish eatery in over 20 years. The place was packed to the rafters and brought back fond memories of club nite rituals and performances of the distant past. When I went to the lavatory I walked past the Mayor of the Sunset Strip legendary radio DJ with KROQ’s Rodney on the Roq and music personality Mr. Rodney Bingenheimer who is responsible for promoting the careers of groups like Blondie, The Germs, The GoGo’s, Duran Duran, Hole, and countless other rock bands too numerous to mention. It was a little sad to see such an important figure in the history of LA music and the underground just sitting all alone at a big banquet table waiting for his meal. I wanted to say hi to him, but he is a shy individual and so I thought it best to preserve his privacy. It was lovely catching up with Marlou and Hal. I’ve known Marlou since primary school when she was fresh off the boat from the Filipine Islands, and Hal I met at UCLA where he was a member of the Jewish Fraternity ZBT. Fertile LaToyah Jackson and I even DJ’d parties on Frat and Sorority Row if you can imagine that, so my DJane career goes back 30 years.
Jeffrey Hilbert of hip Silverlake ad agency Kustom Kreative took me to luncheon at the French Market Place on Santa Monica Blvd between Crescent Heights and Fairfax. I hadn’t eaten there since I left for Berlin in 2006 and all the staffers remembered me and were very sweet. Jeffrey told me a funny story of having lunch with comedian Rip Taylor at the French. Jeffrey was trying to woo the confetti obsessed comedy star into performing for one of Jeffrey’s high octane birthday parties a few years back, but so olde school he is gnu school Rip proved evasive. Jeffrey and I had a wonderous time together reminiscing about our favourite Hollywood hustler and tranny haunts like Yukon Mining Company, the once mighty greasy spoon where we spent many late nights chewing the gab fest. There is no one I adore more then Mr. Hilbert who is one of the most gracious, generous and talented men I know. He let me in on a little secret that when he was in Berlin recently he snatched the dick right out of the mouth of poor Paris scholar Marco Dellamodarme at Rosa’s Bar. Marco who was also visiting Berlin was on a date with this hot Italian lad, but the minute the kid saw Jeffrey it was later days for brainy Marco getting any horn action. The lucky Italian boy certainly got all his holes royally filled by Jeff’s wicked Idaho club spud. After lunch Jeff dropped me off in Funkytown so I could deal with the drama involving my poor relatives—namely my oldest sister’s terminal cancer and my other sister being a horder. My sister Teresita who turns 60 years old in December and lives in a cute but overly cluttered dingbat flat in Hollywood which is filled with Avon products that she neither sells nor uses and magazines and newspapers that she doesn’t read. You can barely walk in the place, but once inside there are always 3 TV sets blaring different channels, a radio tuned to sports talk and a record player that keeps repeating the same vinyl religious disc that skips over and over again.
The best feature of my sister´s apartment building is the mid century kidney shaped swimming pool that always has a bunch of hunky young Latino men lounging around it, as the so called straight and married landlord seems to only rent to twentysomething Mexican men with rather large chorizos and fat titty cavaties. My sister who is still a virgin and has never had a boyfriend always comments how the boys around the pool have such unusually large genitals.
Early in the morning I returned to the Original Farmer’s Market on Fairfax for those enchanting cinneman rolls at Bob’s Coffee & Doughnuts and wolfed down some scrambled eggs & avocado at Phil’s Deli. Was also able to catch a matinee at the Grove of the new Anna Faris comedy What’s Your Number? I only wanted to see this movie because of humpy Chris Evans, and he and his magnificent body didn’t disappoint. The boy should never bother wearing clothes. Ms. Faris is cute too, but if she doesn’t watch out, and start picking better vehicles she will wind up in no-mans-JenniferAniston-land starring in lame romantic sex comedies until the end of time.
O I forgot to mention that super macha Henry Rollins is writing a regular column in the LA Bleekly that is so tepid and dull that I thought it was a joke at first. What the folks at the Bleekly should do is run the comic strip Henry & Glenn Forever that imagines the homosexual misadventures of Mr. Rollins and Glenn Danzig of the speed metal band Danzig and hardcore pioneers The Misfits. Both Hank and Mr. Lucifuge have gay pasts. Who in music or film doesn’t. The handsome blondine actor Thomas Jane(star of an appropriately named cable program called Hung) who use to be married to my old punk rock pal turned TV actress Patricia Arquette, was very open in an interview in the LA Times about his days as a concubine to studio execs and earlier a rent boy working the gritty streets off of Santa Monica Blvd when he was a smoldering hot and buttery 18 year old in LaLaLandia.
I am still a bit exhausted from the back-to-back performing rigors of the Trespass Art Parade and Art Party Fundraiser. The parade was actually a hybrid mixture of parade and protest march and wound up joining forces with the Occupy Los Angeles legion that has been staking out a claim on City Hall for the last few days. Hopefully more people will join forces, build coalitions and radicalize, radicalize. Its the only hope for for god foresaken AmeriKKKa.
During the parade I acted as a temple prostitute giving the procession a Druid Wiccan blessing in front of the Orpheum Theatre on Broadway. I was wearing a white Rick Owens column dress and Goddess Hera wedgie high heeled sandles also designed by Mr. Owens. The night before the parade I was so nervous that I was tossing and turning and didn’t start to fall asleep until 3:30am but that was circumvented by some ghetto bird helicopters flying overhead for nearly two hours. Normally I can sleep through ghetto birds, but living in quiet and relatively safe Berlin for so many years I am out of practise. With no sleep I looked and felt horrible the next day for the parade. Thank god sweet Louis, Louis did a great job on my make-up, hair and fashion styling. Also you can’t go wrong wearing couture Rick Owens. It was inspiring to hear the crowd chanting my mantra, “West of Rome, East of Azusa Art, Sex, Action, Revolution!” I also told the crowd that soon there won’t be anything to eat but the rich and powerful, and that seemed to resonate. After my bit with the parade Dr. Jennifer Doyle the famous feminist social critic and women’s sports writer who teaches at UC Rierside took me to a girlish lunch of Mexican food at a cute relatively new place on the Sunset Junction in Silverlake the name of which I don’t recall. When I got back to the Schindler Mackey Apt which are my modernist digs for this trip courtesy of a generous donation from the Republic of Austria I fell into a deep unabiding coma.
Thank god Sunday night I got a good sleep and felt refreshed for the West of Rome Trespass Art Party Fundraiser at Union Station. West of Rome is dedicated to making temporary public art and the monies raised will help produce my next project which is a commission piece through the Getty/Pacific Standard Time in Jan 2012.
My young and personable West of Rome assistant Daniel Flores Estrella is a Mexican kid who grew up a ghetto child just like me. He graduated recently from Otis Art Institute and is a smart and gifted young art talent to reckon with. He and his social outreach advocate best friend Louis who also produces Youth Radio programs for NPR have been literally Driving Ms. Davis all around LA and taking her to get her eat on. My favorite places are of course greasy spoon diners, but they also took me to a tasty pupuseria in the Guatalamara section of Korea Town on Beverly Blvd.
On the day of the fundraiser we grabbed some grub at the Fish Market on Central Avenue where I pigged out and felt pretty bloated afterward. During soundcheck at the Union Station ticketing ballroom I had a nice gobfest reunion with Phranc the legendary Jewish Lesbian Folk Singer and cardboard cobbler. Phranc looks amazing and was in fine voice. She is one of LA’s most brilliant local treasures, and gave me a pretty pink sticker from the old Women’s Building on North Spring Street that said, “Your Vagina smells fine now naturally.”
I am so looking forward to Phranc coming to Berlin in the Spring to perform as part of the Camp Anti Camp Festival at Hebbel am Ufer.
Glen Meadmore beat me one of his most elegant facesof all time and I looked divine. The other performers on the bill at the Union Station Fundraiser was Arto Lindsey the tropicalia dean from Brazil, Killsonic, The Brown Bunny and JD Samson of Le Tigre and MEN fame as DJane. The space looked incredible thanks to Pink Cloud Productions, with inventive lighting and projections that were outstanding. It was a bit odd having a stage built so high up from the audience, I found it difficult as a performer to connect with the crowd, but everyone was so drunk from the free booze that I guess it didn’t matter. If I was planning things I wouldn’t have used Union Station as there have been so many events held there over the years plus it’s a frequent movie shoot location. The space is gorgeous but just too large to fill and so there is no intimacy. The VIP cocktail party and dinner in the nearby Fred Harvey Girls Room was delightful. The Fred Harvey Room isn’t used as much and is a bit smaller. Actually the fundraiser and the VIP affair could have all been held in the Fred Harvey Room and that would have created a nice pulse to the event with people going outside in the long atrium for cigerette breaks. O its all water under Waterloo bridge now.
At the cocktail party/dinner Glen Meadmore and I hung out with beautiful Marnie Weber and her husband, Emi Fontana the sizzling founder of West of Rome was looking major Ms. Gorgeous in her diaphanous vintage gown and bright red hair flowing catching every available light. Emi and her sweet San Francisco based filmmaker beau Michael are the perfect couple. Emi and West of Rome are doing things in Los Angeles for temporary public art that harkens back to my artsyfartsy youth in the late 70s and early 80s. The roster of art shtars she brought together for the Trespass Parade seems almost inconceivable: Eleanor Antin, Lisa Anne Auerbach, John Baldessari, Chris Burden, Charles Gaines, Cheri Gaulke Amy Gerstler Mike Kelley, Barbara Kruger, Suzanne Lacy, Liz Larner Sharon Lockhart, Stephen Prina, Nancy Rubins, Jim Shaw, Susan Silton and Terry Wolverton.
At the dinner I greased the fat with Los Super Elegantes’ Milena and Martiano. Ms. Milena sung a very sexy song during the dinner where she was wearing a cute Liz Taylorish caftan. Milena is now the mother of a toddler son from a Southern Italian aristocrat. That Milena girl lives the life of a telenovela, and in this situation there is so much drama that I really can’t go into it all at this sitting.
Back to the dinner--- the food was yummy, and I especially delighted in the bearded muscles, crystaline junior pasta and horny toad arugula salad. Desert was a flanish teramiso.
It was great reuniting with Chris Kraus of Semiotext who I hadn’t seen since 2008 when Travis Jeppeson hosted a dinner party for her in Berlin at his Moabit compound. Ms. Kraus’ office is in the same space of my old LA Cheese Endique Trifecta at the Abortion Clinic Building at MacArthur Park. Looking as dreamy as ever was lovesexy Ann Magnusen with 80s pop artist Kenny Sharf and the My Barbarian gang of Jade Gorden, Malik Gaines & Alek Segade. At the art party fundraiser it was heaven to see Craig Roose and gal pal , artist Karen Lofgren aka: Kara Hunger and her studly beau, curmudgeony Dino Dinco and his latest Latin hungthrob, plus Sylvere Lotinger,Andrew Gould and his lovely new Lynwood husband Uriel, Marlou& Hal, Hector Martinez, Meesh Mills and mega successful Hollywood F2M film editor Billy Boy Rich who use to be Emily when we made Hustler White back in 1995. Yakuza the famous Japanese installationist ex boyfriend of artist Rirkrit Tiravanija got his drink on way before the party started and had to be escorted from the Union Station by his hot bulldagger gal pal---wild!
The chirper folks at Invisible Exports Gallery in New York who took part in the LA Platform Art Fair just told me they sold some of my paintings from their New York exhibit: Notes on Notes on Camp. My makeup paintings went under the title No One Leaves Delilah.
Cute Risa Needleman of Invisble Exports sold a bunch of my paintings at the art fair and wanted me to meet the art collector the next day. There is no rest for the wicked doll
Last night Emi Fontana and her filmmaker beau Michael took me and my assistant Daniel to a nice dinner around the corner from her South Pasadena home. The food was incredible. I ordered the layered catfish and Emi had the shrimp & grits which looked like an amazing combination. The staff of the restaurant were nice but there was something a little bit odd and off about them which I kind of like as it was certainly an adventure in LA realness. While we were sitting al fresco, a woman taking a walk with a man heard my hearty cackle of a laugh and started to chittle chat to us. She said she was super bi-polar, which was evident immediately but she actually seemed more rational then most people in Los Ang.
The next day my sweet assistant Daniel picked me up and whisked me to South Pasadena to Emi Fontana’s compound where we had a meeting about the upcoming Jan 29th Getty/Pacific Standard Time presentation. After a torrential downpour the other day the city is basking in sunny clear skied brilliance. After our meeting Emi and her boo Michael took Daniel and I to lunch at Las Cazuelas – Figueroa at Avenue 57 where we chomped down on the best tasting pupusas imaginable. Daniel was making us very hungry by talking about a plethora of southland restaurants like MyDears the soulfood café on 78th and Western, Hals also on Western which is known for their salmon croquettes and Bertha’s at Century & Western who specialize in Cat Fish and Red Snapper. There is also Cook’s Tortas in Monterey Park, Lillianas aka: Lesbianas Tamales in East LA and the World Famous Taco Cart that appears nightly at 52nd Avenue and York in Highland Park where the corn tortillas are made fresh in front of you. Doesn’t it make your brown mouth water blue?
Returned to the Schindler Mackey Apt in time for my appointment with the personable Westside art collector Pamela Robinson who bought some of my paintings from Invisible Exports Gallery at the LA Platform Art Fair. Miss Pamela and I had a girlish visit talking about all the important things like art, politics, makeup, fashion and men with large genitals.
Met some very young architects and artists from Austria who are staying in the other flats at the Mackey apartment. They will be in Los Angeles for half a year. So i invited them to join me and a few friends for a little soiree later that night. The place was jam packed with Frank Rodriguez and his artist lover Patrick Lee, Jeffreyland Hilbert, Hector Martinez and his longtime companion Ericla Pierce, Michele Mills, Dr. Jennifer Doyle, Andrew Gould, my assistant Daniel and his friends Louis and John Wayne is big leggy Tony.
THE WHITE LEGION AND THE PURPLE POODLE
My city of birth Miss Los Angeles can be simply lovely in the Fall, but on this trip it feels more like Indian summer. Even the flight from Berlin was wonderous in that I was upgraded to business class because of some icky tiny plastic surgery victim who had an aisle exit row seat and wouldn’t give it up to someone who clearly needed it more. The trolley dolly’s are very powerful these days post 9/11 so you have to be extra nice to them. I was, and got rewarded big time with comfort and extra food. Sitting next to me was the handsome nephew of Martha Stewart--Christopher Herbert who is a Yale graduate and speaks fluent Arabic, Hebrew and Mandarin Chinese just like Jewish Muslim Daniel Hendrickson. Hector picked me up at the airport and whisked me to the MAK Center for Art and Architecture at the Schindler Haus at 835 North Kings Road in West Hollywood where I was greeted by the sweet and love sexy staff members who were busy putting up their latest show Sympathetic Seeing: Esther McCoy and the Heart of American Modernist Architecture and Design that runs from Sept 28th to Jan 8, 2012 curated by Kimberli Meyer and Susan Morgan. I was given the keys to where I would be staying on this trip at the Pearl M. Mackey Apartments in the Miracle Mile District. The apartment building was designed by Schindler in 1939 and is beyond gorgeous. After dumping my luggage Hector took me to Jan’s Coffee Shop on Beverly Blvd near La Cienega for some haute greasy spoon cuisine. Jan’s is owned by the same family that operates The Silver Spoon(formerly Theodore’s) on Santa Monica Blvd in WeHo and The Astro Family in Silverlake. Later in the evening my British husband and Bricktops at the Parlour Club partner Andrew Gould came by and we drank vino and noshed until the wee hours to help me get over my jet lag.
The next day I was picked up by my West of Rome assistant Daniel Flores Estrella who just recently graduated from Otis Art Institute and was a student of Dr. Robert Summers. Daniel is a dream child---cute, smart and wickedly funny. He grew up in Inglewood so he is a funkytown ghetto girl just like me. Daniel took the doll for breakfast at Homegirl Café a division of Homeboy Industries a restaurant business assisting at-risk and formerly gang involved women and men to become contributing members of the community through the culinary arts and restaurant services. Homegirl serves incredible breakfasts, lunch and Saturday brunch with a menu featuring contemporary Latina fare and fresh baked goods from the Homeboy Bakery. They also offer full-service catering for events. If you are visiting LA rush to 130 West Bruno Street in Downtown just north of Union Station and across from Chinatown. Believe me you won’t be disappointed, and if that isn’t enough there are plenty of hot humpy latin thug looking boys in various states of undress lounging about in the parking lot. After getting stuffed in more ways then one we reconfigured with hot mama Caren, the most organized woman in the world and her juicy staff and interns at the West of Rome Pasadena headquarters. I really was impressed by the energy of fellow LA native Miss Caren and crew, they are able to create miracles on a daily basis and keep their whimsy and fun loving spirit. Believe me that can be a daunting task in negotiating with institutions and bureaucracy associated with city government and the art world establishment.
Later that afternoon Daniel took me to the Fair Oaks Pharmacy and Soda Fountain for a snack and ice cream. The FairOaks has been around since 1915 and is like stepping through a time continuem vortex. Plus there were some hunky soda jerk’s behind the counter. When I am not trying to sniff out some roughneck sweet meats, my other favorite flavour is dirty white boy. In the evening my pretty baby ella paisana Emi Fontana la Contessa di West of Roma had a little dinner party for some of the artists and staff working on The Trespass Party and Parade that included the legendary Tropicaliast alpha male Arto Lindsey and his saucy and personable Brazilian collaborator Leticia, mellow Thai/Argentine artist extroidinaire Rirkrit Terabanja who uses food as a medium, with his sizzling Chicano artiste right hand gal Cathy, and sizzling muscular former college wrestling champ and Chicago transplant Chris who looks like he could really fill out a singlet to perfection. The food and drink never stopped flowing at Emi’s amazing South Pasadena compound. Later we were gagging on the lovely extravaganza and doing some fundraising brainstorming with Emi’s brilliant consulting magnet gay boyfriends and her mini Dom group fearless group leader. Daniel drove me back to the Mackey Apartment via USC Fraternity row where we macked on some nubile Greek co-ed fleshpots.
Thursday morn Daniel fetched the doll for a walk through of the parade route on historic Broadway, but before that he took me to breakfast at Nick’s Café the most heavenly little greasy spoon at 1300 North Spring Street. I thought I had eaten at every diner in LA, but somehow I missed this treasure that is now owned by two proud bull daggers who inherited the place from the crusty depression era owner. It was like going back to the early 1930s. Excellent coffee, homemade salsa, and hashbrowns with just the right amount of spunk in them. After meeting with Emi & gang on Broadway where I told them about my parade from the early 1990s on Melrose Place called the 5th Annual Judy Garland Post Queer Parade & Festival with the doll as Snooty Garland and Judy LaBruce as grand marshalls. My impromptu parade was only two miniscule blocks, but this Trespass Parade project is a huge deal with street closings and everything. Later we went to the Art Platform Los Angeles Art Fair at the LA Mart to check in at the West of Rome space and I bumped into Javier Peres & Company of Peres Projects Gallery. Emi & I pulled down Javier’s pants and played with his hairy buttsicle as he screamed and desperately tried to get away from us. I love causing havoc to middle class people. I also flirted and giggled with the loveable rock steady crew of Invisible Exports Gallery of New York, who besides showing paintings by the Vagimule doll also has work up by the great Genesis P-Orridge and a slew of other smoldering artists.
Friday I woke up early and walked to the Farmers Market and had one of those incredible fresh out of the oven cinemmon rolls, read the LA Weekly which is more a newsletter and the LA Times which has also shriveled up and had to wait till 9:30 when the post office now decides to open up.
At noon Dr. Joe Bristow of UCLA took me to luncheon at Aunt Rosa Lee’s Mississippi Soul Food joint at 2781 South Western Avenue off of West Adams in an ugly mini mall. The food was heaven, we both had smothered chicken with black eyed peas & collard greens and peach cobbler for desert.
Then we were off to the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library which was built by the sexually fluid William Andrews Clark Jr. in the middle 1920s to house his growing collection of rare books and manuscripts. The founder drew up a deed of gift donating the five acre estate to UCLA in 1926 and in 1934 the University formally began to administer the library. The Clark specializes in books printed between 1640 and 1800, Oscar Wilde and his circle, fine printing and the book arts plus other collections that include French literature, the American West and the work of Pietro Aretino. The place is stunning and the staff warm and extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Joe and I were escorted by the great Carol Sommer who is the Senior Catalogue Specialist. Carol is retiring at the end of December and is a complete treasure of personality plus. We also had a lovely time with Scott Jacobs the Reader Services Officer,Jenny Basstienne, Cataloging and Patrick Keilty who teaches at UCLA lecturing on Women’s/LGBT Studies and Library and Information Sciences. His dissertation was on the timely tome of Porn on the Net.
I want to use the Clark Memorial Library as the site specific location for my Getty/Pacific Standard Time piece that will premiera in January. After a long fascinating time with Dr. Joe I returned to the Mackey Apartment to digest over everything and was joined by Hector Martinez and Dr. Jennifer Doyle, Andrew Gould and his smoking hot young lover who besides being extroidinarily beautiful is a sweet and engaging young man with deep soulfull eyes. I am so glad that Andrew is enjoying true love in all its permutations. He deserves it more then anyone.
Saturday morning back downtown in the parking lot of the LA Mart to go over necessities for the parade on Sunday. Of coure the weather now is hot and humid, the worse for a drag queen having to be performing in the bright glare of daylight hours. Sweet Daniel took me to breakfast after the meeting to Astro Family Coffee Shop in Silverlake where I was given a queenly welcome by the staff who all really miss the Vagimule doll. Michele “Meesh” Mills joined us and we not only ran into Jackie Beat & Mario Diaz but also Cadillac Joe Donnelly the former deputy editor at the LA Weekly. Joe was looking very sexy with a new lady friend in tow. He still has that mega ass that has a mind of its own. He will be promoting a new book at the West Hollywood Book Fair on Sunday at the WeHo Library. My webmater Larry Bob Roberts is also going to be at the book fair with his tome The International Homosexual Conspiracy. In the evening Larry dropped by the Mackey apartment where I was hanging out with Michele Mills who is looking so incredible, Glen Meadmore and Hector Martinez. I had to send everyone home so I could get plenty of rest before my parade performance, but of course I was tossing and turning all night and the ghetto birds were flying high. Glad that some things in LA never change.
ICH BIN PULVEREIT
The local Berlin elections ended recently-and the gay burgermeister Klaus Wolvereit has been reelected to another term as mayor. Herr Wolvereit reminds me of Mayor Ed Koch of New York City. Both are big fagulas who love to self promote. One of the oddest coalitions in Germany is the prankster Piraten Party. They are similar to the Cacophony Society in the states except that they actually have a voice in the political forum thanks to the good old grumpy teutonic spirit. Here in Germany it can sometimes pay to be a malcontent. The squeaky wheel will get that oil rag stuffed down its throat if you are loud and persistent enough.
LA based Washington DC born artist Lily Simonsen came by the Cheese Endique Trifecta to visit the Vagimule doll. I first met pretty Miss Lilly when she was just 16 and a huge Beck fan. This was back in the late 90s when I performed as part of the Al &Beck Hansen Playing With Matches exhibition in New York. Now at age 30 Ms. Simonsen is an internationally recognized painter who depicts the creatures who reside in the murky depths of oceanic nature. We had a nice girlish time together drinking white wine spritzers and nibbling on nosh. She told me all about her working for Burning Man this year. My friend Hector Martinez is another person I know who makes the pilgrimage to the Nevada desert hippy dippy playa every year.
Isn´t Rev Al Ridenauer who is married to comedienne Margaret Cho one of the founders of Burning Man? If I want to burn something in effigy I will screen the 1970s cult classic Wicker Man dressed in my best Britt Eckland drag.
Last week I was surprised by Jeffreyland Hilbert who used his GPS navigation application on his smart phone to find my Cheese Endique Trifecta studio. Jeffrey is one of the most generous people I know and treated his Vagimule doll to lunch at the Indian restaurant Moghul on Akazienm Strassse. Jeffrey´s younger brother Kurt was hanging out with his hot young Italian trick. Jeffrey caught a summer cold and decided to take it easy for one night while vacationing in Berlin. He knew he would be partying up a storm in Munich for Octoberfest. Sunday I had a meeting with Daniel Hendrickson and Marc Siegel and then we went to eat at Moghul and were served by the unhappiest waiter in all of Berlin, a tiny little pud of guy with a bubble butt and a dark cloud of a personality.
Wednesday Jeffrey returned to Berlin from Munich and we met at the Holocaust Memorial. We also checked out the Paragraph 175 installation box in the Tiergarten, then Jeffrey took me to luncheon at this high tech boite on Unter des Linden called Holyfields where I ordered the healthy version of fish&chips while Jeff munched on the Eternal Spring tagliatelle. Holyfields accepts credit cards just a little FYI to all you Berlin visitors stymied to find someplace that takes the plastic. Then we walked the miracle mile to the Sieggesaule and got all touristy climbing the top of the golden lady of the panoramic views. On the observation deck Jeff told me something a bit disturbing----namely that Matt Gracie was dead having committed suicide several years ago. Matt Gracie was a dapper bon vivant, and a true sweetheart that was part of the heritage scene of vintage clothing and furniture habitués of LA. He came to Los Angeles many moons ago from Ohio and was close girlfriends with Laurie Pike, my old editor from Glue Magazine. Matt had been lovers with Arnold McCollough the successful session and back up singer to James Taylor and Phil Collins. At one point they had a beautiful house on Mulholland Drive that Matt had meticulously art directed.
Received an unexpected email from “Shooter” my nickname for actor Brad Pitt. Even his wife Angelina Jolie has started calling him by this moniker. It stems from the time he was a high price call boy working the Hollywood circuit and got a reputation for shooting volumeous amounts of semen-sometimes spurting all the way up to the ceiling.
Well get this: Mr. Pitt has optioned the rights to a newly discovered lost book by noir writer James M. Cain author of Mildred Pierce, Double Indemnity and The Postman Always Rings Twice. The original manuscript for this book called The Cocktail Waitress had been missing since Cain´s death in 1979, so now Pitts production company wants to make a movie of it and for some strange reason he thinks I should play the lead role. I told him it was a very bad idea, and that the perfect person to play the part was Jennifer Aniston. So I doubt If I will be hearing again from him any time soon. Well at least not until he & Angie need a über reality check from being outofit movie shtars.
On Jeffrey Hilbert´s last evening in Berlin he invited me over to his hotel room for room service. We had a grand time pigging out and watching mindless cable TV. The BBC had a fascinating interview with British director Ken Loach who really gave it to the silly twee TV presenter. Right on Mr. Loach!
Jeffrey was staying at the Marriott Potsdamer Platz which is hidden behind the Ritz Carleton. Its such a cute hotel and the room was downright lovely with a California King sized bed which brought to mind memories of blue movie great Mike Branson. When I was leaving Jeffrey´s hotel I witnessed a strange occurance outside the Ritz Carleton, a car pulls up with several fugly looking pasty faced men escorting several beautiful scared looking tween age blondine boys. This was a little after midnight. Were these men procurers for his holiness the Pope-Pabst Benedict, bringing him fresh sweet meats to devour or take back with him to his lockdown in the Vatican? Creepy.
I missed the press screening at the Delphi of Almodovar´s new film La Piel Que Habito in German Die Haut in der ich Wohne and in English The Skin I Live In. This film marks the return of Antonio Banderas to the Almodovar knitting factory. I´m sure Antonio is glad to be away from Melanie Griffith. Also in the film is Marisa Paredes and Elena Anaya.
I don´t feel so bad that I missed seeing the latest Almodovar film because at Rising Stars Falling Stars screening Saturday of the Swedish film The Norrtull Girl Gang 1923 directed by Per Lindberg one of the other stars of The Skin I Live In--- Jan Cornet with galpal paid a visit to Arsenal Inst für film und video kunst. Hunky Mr. Cornet who plays the second skin sex change victim in the film is a huge fan of the Blue Bros Tim & John(kJohnny) having just seen the duo perform in Scandinavia so he was happy to get the chance to see them accompanying this beautiful film. With the street closures because of the marathon and the tyro artist showcase at HAU (I recommended half of the young artists on the bill) the Rising Stars screening was very very intimate. Sharing a giggle at the after screening reception in the Rote Foyer: Daryl Els the vivacious young South African guest film programmer, Daniel Hendrickson the Jewish Muslim, Manuel Schubert of FilmHighlights Radio Magazine, prima ballerina Trixie Cordua, Ulrich Ziemons, the handsomest man in all Europe filling in for Arsenal Empress Stefanie Schulte Strathaus who is in New York, and Nadja Talmi of Haus of World Cultures.
O if you´re at the news stand pick up a copy of the German fashion, art & culture magazine Sleek. There is an interview with the Vagimule Doll with two flattering pics. It’s the gender issue and it also features a glossy fashion spread with Singapore artist Ming Wong and an indepth interview with Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and Glenn O´Brian of Interview Magazine fame.

GRUSSWORT DER KULTUR STIFTUNG DES BUNDES
Last night attended the opening of Phil Collins-This Unfortunate Thing . . .a Teleshopping Broadcast at HAU 1. It started off a little flat with shmarmy real life German TV personality Matthias Matschkte as the host of a home shopping network like show. With this kind of conceit and with real TV cameras on stage you have to play things dry and not the hambone showboating method, otherwise it comes off as a worse version of the already horrid sketch comedy American TV show Saturday Night Live or a two bit episode of Faulty Towers.
Leave it to Susanne Sachsse to save the day with her adept vocal intonation and subtle gesture. With Ms. Sachsse on stage the awkwardness was removed and the audience responded accordingly. Also loved the British woman who did a klutsy impromptu interpretive dance. The Stassi interrogation scene was major groansville. The only man in the piece that I found remotely interesting was the balding ginger Niels Bormann who warmed up the live taping audience in the very beginning.
The blue movie sextresses were lovely and went at each other with lusty abandon, one of the men in the scene tried to rev up his live sex partner Marcel Schlutt(Wurst &Casso Porn Film Matinee Idol) but Herr Schlutt, looking quite fetching in his period drag seemed to permanently check out of the proceedings--I couldn't exactly blame him.
Seen floating about the building: film historian Marc Siegel, Daniel Hendrickson the Jewish Muslim with handsome actor Constantine Achmed Berger, Richard Gersh and his pretty girlfriend Miss Vicky who was celebrating her 20th birthday, the charming Salome Gersh and posse, Nadja Talmi the junior curator at Haus of World Cultures, Anna Muelter, beautiful Nazli Kilerci and her hunky beau Jorgos The Greek, Israeli artist Yael Bertran and her very preggers girlfriend, lighting designer Jackie Shemesh, Plattenspieler host and novelist Thomas Meineke with his wonderful wife and music partner and that embodiment of British charm and graciousness Ms.Gorgeous her-selvis Ian White sporting a Nazi youthquaker haircut.
Had to scurry to The Nobel Elf to meet with Jeffreyland Hilbert of Custom Creative and his baby brother Curt who are vacationing in Berlin from LA and Seattle. Getting a chance to see the mighty Hilbert Bros has been a delicious delight as they are my favorite Yarborough & Peoples. The hunky bros have been staying in Tiergarten district at the flat of Piero Bellomo of La Collezione fame and the minute they got off the aeroplane started making intimate new acquaintances amongst the locals.
The cigerette smoking and jampacked crowd proved too much for the boys at Nobel Elf so we swished over to the legendary Rosas Bar which was less saunalike but filled with lots of straight couples, nerdy accountant types and icky hetero wolf packs. I guess this side of Kreuzberg has really become gentrified. I never go out to bars and hadn't been at Rosas in four years. The love sexy bartendress made the Vodka Tonics extra strong for us and we were able to get a seat and bumped into Marco the sweet Italian born Paris based academic who was of late the boyfriend of Maxime Cervulle. Marco was with an Italian stud posse of pals and when I left at around 2:30am which is way past the Doll’s bedtime all seemed right in the world and the love connections were being made.
Earlier that morning Jeff&Curt treated their Vagimule to a big breakfast at Café Berio’s where I was hoping the giantessa Tranny would be on duty, but no such luck. We visited Christopher Isherwood’s Berlin Stories flat and the boys did some gay shopping at some specialty boutiques in the Nollendorky Platz area as well as take pics in front of the hustler bars. Then they were off in a whirl of blondine and ginger locks for sighting seeing at the Reichstag and the Alexander Platz Television Tower. On the Hilberts first night in Berlin they were primed to mann up to bro down so I took them to the Bear/Otter/Cub pub Wolf’s Den, the gay knipe The Prinze Konnect and MutschMann’s Fetish and Cruise Club. Tomorrow they go to Munich for OctoberFest. Long live the radiant Hilbert Bros may they always reign supreme with 20plus inches of firm and devastating Idaho spud peni.

DESCRIPTION:
Cuts: A Traditional Sculpture is a durational performance resulting in a 2 channel video installation, a pin up, photographic ephemera and a zine. The work is structured in dialogue with two seminal performance works, Eleanor Antin’s Carving: A Traditional Sculpture,1972 and Lynda Benglis’ 1974 Artforum Magazine intervention Advertisement. My new work interprets these pieces, while linking them to performative practices associated with the production of hypermasculine and transgendered bodies.
Antin’s performance (in which the artist photographed herself while dieting) responded to notion that Greek sculptors found their ideal form by discarding unnecessary material from their marbled blocks. Rather than crash diet, over three months I built my body to its maximum capacity. I did this by adhering to a strict bodybuilding regime, constructed by master body building coach Charles Glass. David Kalick, a nutritionist specializing in diets for sports competition, designed a diet where I consumed the caloric intake of a 190-pound male athlete. I also took mild steroids for eight weeks of the training.
I documented my body as it changed, taking 4 photos a day, from 4 vantage points. I collapsed 23 weeks of training into 23 seconds creating a time-lapse video (part of the 2 channel installation Fast Twitch Slow Twitch). Juxtaposed against the speed of the time lapse are highly stylized scenes, which play in painful slow motion that depict moments from my training- a raw egg dropping into a mouth or a decontextualized face as it "maxes out".
When my body reached a peak condition in its transformation, I collaborated with photographer Robin Black to stage a homage to the Benglis’ Advertisement. Rather than buying advertisement space in Artforum, we will use Black’s connections in the gay fashion/ art publications (both on line and off) to disseminate Homage to Bengalis. Substituting my ripped masculine physique for a double ended phallus, we will leak our image without disclosing anything about its subject but will link the image to our blog about the project. Placing Homage to Bengalis within these contexts signals the shifts in our cultural landscape, and the role of artists like Benglis in bringing about those changes.
Additonally many artist friends helped me generate documentation: Zackary Drucker, Rhys Ernst, Cathy Davies, and especially Robin Black.
For this exhibition I was commissioned by LACE- and it was also made possible with the generous support of my people who kicked in for my Kickstarter fund.

And this message from delightful Elly Clark:
Just to let you know that my three screen video 'Moscow to Beijing' is being screened next Thursday 22nd September at Milton Keynes Gallery. And although this work has been shown before - in Canada, Russia, Finland, USA, Germany and few venues in the UK - it has never before been shown projected large as it will be here. So I'm excited. If you're nearby or would like to be for that evening, it would be brilliant to see you. More info here: http://www.mkgallery.org/events/2011_09_22/film_screening/
If, however, the thought of a night in Milton Keynes doesn't get you out of your seat, a show you can visit without moving more of you than your mouse click hand, is Noises in the Void, in which I have two pieces. This online exhibition went live officially today and will remain online for six months and gathers together work by a diverse set of artists who all use sound in various ways. The two pieces I have in it are Five Minutes on the A23 (Berlin-Heide) - a five minute video made during a standstill traffic jam on the German Autobahn, and thirteen photographs with accompnaying audio extracts from The George Richmond Portrait Project.
You can see this exhibition here: http://www.stuffinablank.com/noisesinthevoid/index.html - click through the arrows at the bottom right to go through the exhibition. Or (if feeling lazy you can go directly to the bits I'm in here: http://www.stuffinablank.com/noisesinthevoid03.html and to the George Richmond Portrait Project here: http://www.stuffinablank.com/noisesinthevoid06.html)
I hope you're well and to see you soon!
Best wishes / love from

I hope to see you at the opening.
Sincerely Yours,
Heather Cassils

TORMENT ME WITH YOUR ENCHILADA
Was on my way to the internet cafe when I bumped into Master Patrick the sweet and personable leatherhooded Berlin artist. Master “P” is back at the door of Club Pork at Ficken 3000 every Sunday nite after a year’s timeout from Pork proprietor Tennessee Claffin the Mormen ex hustler lover of A-list directors Gus Van Sant and Bryan Singer. Recently Pork had a scandalous politically in-correct‘Jihad’ party.
Master Patrick filled me in on all his recent adventures including working on a new film that stars a muscular 20 year old EastGerman Judo champion named Jasper who looks like a baby Joe Dellesandro, and is causing quite an international stir. While I was getting the downup from Master ‘P’ we were accousted on the street by a gaggle of Dutch drag queens. They were on their merry way to a champagne brunch and a hot filming sesh with German cine legend Miss Rosa von Praunheim. Herding the corral of unruly trannies was bareback blue movie idol Peto Coast of Macho Fucker Studios. According to Master Patrick Macho Fucker is the MetroGoldwynMayer of condomless skin flickers and sets itself apart with a randy roster of shtars and shlong-genues of the humongi penis variety. Macho Fucker prides itself on a fornication style that is rough and jackhammery. Mr. Peto Coast is a tall, strapping dark haired lad from The Netherlands who resembles a young John Gilbert crossed with Melvyn Douglas. He came across as more macha then macho from our brief introduction but I guess that’s where his thespian skills come into play on celluloid.
***
I get many emugs on a daily basis asking my opinion of the latest crap, I mean crop of Hollywood and international art house releases. Since I don´t live in Los Angeles anymore I am limited in the free screener copies sent to me. But I do get invited to screenings in Berlin on occasion because of my connection to the Berlinale, Cannes and the Sundance Film Festivals. I also occasionally write for cultural periodicals, journals and glossies but generally shy away from journalism as the pay is lousy. One recent inquiry was on my take of the recent film Cowboys and Aliens directed by Jon Favreau of Swingers fame. Well the best thing about this movie is its title and star Daniel Craig’s voluptuous horror of a heiny in some well worn leather chaps—lecher! The rest of the film is too Steven Spielberg mushy mush.
Steven Spielberg = death. Its an easy rule for kids to follow.

WEITER KOMMT; WER PERFEKTE VERBINDUNGUN NUTZT
Received a Skype call from Crepe Suzette, aka:Susan Mathelson my longtime friend and collaborator who is a famous costume designer of A-list Hollywood films like Twilight. She has also designed for and dressed the biggest of the Hollywood living dolls, namely HRH Vagimule Davis Jr.
The last time we chittle chatted via Skype she was in her native South Afrika in May working on a movie with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. The muscular Mr. Reynolds was ademant in not wanting to be sexually objectified refusing to wear anything form fitting or that exposed his steroid sculpted rack or abdominals. I guess he's gone Shakespearian, and wants to be taken seriously as an actor and not just an overpriced male courtesan which is how he got to where he is in LaLa-landia. Can't fault him --- thats how everyone makes it big in the entertainment bíz.
The Crepe Suzette is back in Los Ang prepping her next feature which will star that dimunitive Scientology lady of the über relaxed sphincter channel ---Miss Tomithy Cruise. This project films on location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I`m sure our favourite matron saint—Dame Cruise will be providing private sessions in her stretch trailer to her fav loveskin of dinge delight Will "I Whip My Peter Back and Forth" Smith. Climb that tree squirrel and make sure you get copious amounts of cementy jubas gnut fluid soaking in your festery male womb!
A few months back i saw Woody Harrelson in that strategic romantic hagedy called Sex Beneficiary or some such nonsense that stars former child concubine Justin(25 centimeters) Timberlake and that exotic black orchid Mila Kunis. Poor Mr. Harrelson was photographed horribly and relegated to portraying the kooky gay stock character in advanced capitalism/danger capitalism's desperate attempt to court the disposable income of the high snow homophile marketa.

Sunday afternoon it was lovely and warm at Templehoff Airport birthday picnic for juicy Nanna Heidenreich of Arsenal Experimental. Enjoying the festivities: Daniel Hendrickson, the Jewish Muslim for Christ Jesus, his lover Pierro Bellomo, Marietta Kesting, Constanze Rohm with puppy, Little Alex of Chocolate Grinder Kollective, Djane Olga Damnitz with Senol Senturk, Theodora and their football hooligan posse, Michaela Wunsch and her delish blondine baby boy, Katja, Cigdem, Micho Willen Buecher and the bbooks and Kanak Attack crews, adoreable Angela Melitopolous, South Afrikan film programmer Daryl Els and his Canadian girlfriend, my dentist Dr. Müller who is a college pal of Nanna's with his kinder, Isabelle Spengler and her cherubic newborn Sasha, artist Cyprien Gaillard, handsome Uli Ziemons and his beautiful lady friend Juliane.
I had to leave the picnikle at 6pm to meet NYC luminary and top fashion scribe Glenn Belverio(Glenn Belverio's blog, Confessions from the Velvet Ropes
www.glennbelverio.com)who is in Berlin staying with his graphic designer friend Isabel Toledo. We had a glorious reunion at the Cheese Endique Trifecta as a thunder storm raged outside. Starving, we later hightailed it to Kant Strasse in Charlottenberg for a late night supper at the 24 hour bistro Schwartzer Cafe that Glenn renamed The Arnold Schwartzenegger Cafe & Bordello where we stuffed on karrot ginger soup and dead baby cow wiener schnitzle. Glenn leaves for Vienna fashion week on Wednesday.
I walked home via Nollendorky Platz as all the Folsom Street Europa Nosferatu sex lizards were crawling out from under their rocks. Ran into cute and cuddly Yusi Etiman the patrician Turkish leader of the Basso Kollective which just disbanded after a near ten year run of regular eventas. Mr. Etiman was looking water polo player fit & fresh in a bright red tunic sitting outside a Lebenese spatkauf on Motzstrasse munching on pistachio nuts and icecream. Earlier in the eve he was ravaged in a threegy with some dinosaur dicked teutonics at the Reizbar Naked Sex Party. He also had visited the Mutschmann Fetish Club but was turned off by all the fembots in their silly macho drag costumes. We cackled and giggled together for a few minutes like two girlish Gertie's getting their garters bunched up, and then he sashayed home to his stylish Leiptzieger Strasse penthouse apartment. The Vagimule slowly ho strolled back to Rote Insel where she crash landed.
Forgot to mention that the legendary filmmaker and teacher extroidinaire at San Francisco Art Institute George Kuchar recently passed of what i believe was colon cancer. Gorgeous George had been ill for some time and I knew he was on death's doorknob but i was somehow hoping for a miracle and that he would still be with us for a few more decades to fullfill Sylvia's Promise.

FREUNDE MIT GEWISSEN VORZUEGEN
The Love Camel, aka: Andrea Novarin came through Berlin town for his birthday. Camel lives in central London where he works for the British Film Institute. The Camel is one of my oddest and most unique gal pals. We met in the 1990s when he volunteered to be my assistant for the events I put on in Milan, Turin, Bologna and Rome. Camel knew everything about LA punk rock and was well versed in my career in underground film, music, art and journalism. Funny I didn’t find out till recently that Camel has written several books on Italian cinema and the horror genre. It was these books that got him his position at BFI. Shows you how self absorbed I am.
I adore my Camel. He is very soft spoken and doesn’t toot his own horn and is completely devoted to his Vagimule doll. We’ve known each other now for almost 20 years and I can’t imagine life without the Camel. He bought me a bevy of presents that included many obscure film titles and two books: Queer Pollen-White Seduction, Black Male Homosexuality, and the Cinematic by David A. Gerstner on University of Illinois Press and The Twenties by Alan Jenkins an illustrated survey.
I came down with a bit of a cold and also had some Commie Biggie duties so I wasn’t able to hang out with the Camel as much as I wanted. Luckily Daniel Hendrickson the Jewish Muslim was able to take Camel to see his fellow Camels at Hasenheide Park in Neu Koelln but we had some lovely joyous meals together at Atlantic on the Mehringdamn Corridor, Toughstein Café in the Insel, Santa Maria the Mexican bistro in Kreuzberg, The Bilderbuch on Akazien Strasse and Azul where we met with film historian Marc Siegel for his belated birthday celebration. Earlier in the week along with Daniel Hendrickson, Susanne Sachsse and Mr. Siegel we went to the Arsenal for the Akira Kurasawa retrospectacle to see a screening of Rashomen with sexy Tishiro Mifune and has juicy nips. At Arsenal we ran into Little Alex of Chocolate Grinder Film Kollective and his hot Israeli modern dancer lover Assaf Hochman and Arsenal Empress Stefanie Schulte Strathaus who gave me a beautiful 1920s dress from Arsenal kasse girl Grit who is leaving the Arsenal now that she has finished school. Grit will be missed as she is one of the sweetest ladies in all of Germany. Marc Siegel also relayed to me a story about when he brought the Malaysian born Taiwanese film director Tsai Ming Liang(The Wayward Cloud) to Club Sucker at the Garage one Sunday in Silverlake and the famous director was treated to an impromptu performance live on stage of fellatio by the doll of a humpy well endowed indie rocker. Just my usual antics at the famed art/performance lounge and beer bust that I hosted for some five years which now seems like a lifetime ago.
Got an emug from one of my oldest and dearest sisters of the clothe Ron Athey whose new book project needs support. Here are the details below so please help the tatoo love god in this very important and worthwhile endeavor:

Another one of my famous lady friends Glennda Orgasm aka: Glenn Belverio will be in Berlin for a few days before venturing to the Vienna Fashion week. Can’t wait to spend some quality time with this geniuses genius.
Just received this note from my hot comrades in Slovenia:

Name Readymade
Thursday, 15 September, 2011 - 13:00 - 14:00
Sabanci Center Main Theater, Levent
ISEA2011 ISTANBUL - The 17th International Symposium on Electronic Art
Name Readymade is a project presentation dealing with a wide range of issues related to the “name changing” gesture perpetrated by three Slovenian artists who, in 2007, officially, and with all the papers and stamps required, changed their names and assumed the name of the Slovenian Prime Minister at the time, Janez Janša. Ever since, all their works, their private and public affairs – in a word, their whole life – have been conducted under this new name.
The presentation is a parcours through different stages and aspects of the act of name changing and its consequences, including public, relational and intimate ones; it is an investigation of how, in western society, the concept of personal name coincides with (or differs from) the question of personal identity.

Forever & Today, Inc. presents Petite Mort: Recollections of a Queer Public, a collaborative project by Carlos Motta and Joshua Lubin-Levy, including a book and a related series of performances, all taking place in and around Forever & Today, Inc.’s Lower East Side/Chinatown storefront—a gathering place and site for activity from September 17–25, 2011.
Motta and Lubin-Levy’s book, Petite Mort: Recollections of a Queer Public, on view and available at Forever & Today, Inc., assembles drawings from memory of spaces in New York City where a public sexual encounter occurred, and presents contributions from an intergenerational group of over 60 gay men.
Conceived as an atlas of queer affection, Petite Mort proposes a subjective blueprint of the city, one that values not simply the space “as is,” but how it has been performed and engaged, highlighting the fundamental connection between public space and queer life.
The collected drawings, depicting sites extending from a residential rooftop to The Rambles in Central Park, remind us that public sex is not exclusively about a personal pursuit of pleasure—they also contain the seeds of historical social and political action that have brought together communities of gay men.
Petite Mort asks questions challenging us to expand our vision for queer politics: What if our politics were rebuilt around a broader notion of intimacy rather than individuality? Can we foster, rather than police, the trust and affection inherent to desire and pleasure? Should equality be about difference, rather than assimilation?
The performance series includes: Sketchy Walk by Juan Betancurth and Todd Shalom, a self-guided late-night cruising walk in the Lower East Side/Chinatown; Last Call by J. Morrison, interactive performances lasting for the duration of one song; and TENS by Cyrus Saint Amand Poliakoff, participatory performances exploring how language and electricity operate in the body.
Printed in an edition of 500, proceeds from the Petite Mort book benefit Queers for Economic Justice (QEJ). Beginning September 17, 2011, a free PDF is available atwww.foreverandtoday.org.

Dear friends,
you are very welcome to this event at ISEA2011.
