This week is the Folsom Europe event which is the continents take on the famed San Francisco fetish happening. Been noticing on the streets lots of burly men in various expensive costumes of the rubber/gummi, leather, uniform and puppy chow variety.  The dude who created the concept that it´s masculine and sexy to dress as a dog must be laughing all the way to the filthy lucre banksy.

The rest of the tyro fetish punters seem to adopt what I call the H&M, Forever 21, Judy´s Gear For Guy´s Harness/Jock strap apparel look. 

With a heatwave of temps in the high 80s it seems like a lot of bother to make oneself so stiff and uncomfortable on the promenade. I saw one extremely diminutive man emerge from the super market dressed as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer, complete with handle bar mustache. The ill fitting uniform made him look more like the cartoon character of Dudley Do-Right.

The gloriously talented Bay Area artist Brontez Purnell will perform in Berlin at the end of the month. I´m not a big fan of the Volksbühne after what they did to Vegard Venge and Ida Müller but I am a fan of the marvelous, super sexy Brontez.

I was hanging out with the incredible young novelist and Art Forum journalista Travis Jeppeson at Beach 61: Volleyball Oase im Berliner Park am Gleisdrieick the other day when I catch glimpse of a blondine Adonis. He was stunning--taller than I am with broad shoulders that tapered to a tiny waiste and bouncy baby boy bubble butt, huge feet and quite the healthy package in his booty shorts. 

 It was great hanging with Travis ogling the beach volleyball players in their natural habitat. There is a bar and food court and we just plopped ourselves down for the count until around 9pm. Because of some summer showers the volleyball players would run for shelter where we were sitting and we got to see a lot of them close-up. A few looked better from far away. They had youth and muscular bodies but faces like melted butter. Some were so pale and pasty that they resembled the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Was invited to a fab dinner party by Berlinda´s most treasured and gorgeous hostess La Susanne Sachsse at her East German compound. The food and drink flowed and was of course sensational. The guest list included Toronto´s favourite daughter Miss Judy LaBruce, art photographer and poet extrodinaire Slava Mogutin, film historian Marcuse Siegelstein of the Universitaet Mainz and Jamie & Angela of XiuXiu who are recent transplants to the Berlin shores from higeous with an accent on the G - Los Angeles. Great time was had by one and all and BLAB was in fine spirits telling us hilarious stories and reading from his new obituary series which would make an excellent best selling book.

Got a report from Pepe Cantinflas at Burning Man. Unexpected rainstorms turned the playa into quicksand, followed by a mysterious death.  Could it be murder? Were celebrities like Chris Rock, Cindy Crawford, DJ Diplo involved?

 I´ve never understood the attraction of this event. You couldn´t pay me a trillion dollars to attend. One friend who was an early participant during its salad days said it was a way for caucasions with too much disposable income to feel like they have a connection to community and spirituality. My pal Pepe Cantinflas only goes because as a middle aged man who is a high snow queen it´s a place where young, fit men with severe daddy damage can completely let themselves go and become mesmerized and dickmatized by Pepe´s Alpha male sexual calisthenics. I have to give Pepe credit. For an oldie he is a goodie and doesn´t need viagra to maintain a raging hard-on. 

 I am not ashamed to admit I am completely jealous of Pepe´s sexual ardour and handsome chiseled brown features which make him catnip to impressionable white boys from good, but frosty cold Patrician families. Also Los Angeles is famous as a city of bottoms and Mr. Cantinflas is a notorious jackhammer power top.

My sweet art son Blood of Abraham took me to my first movie in a theater in almost four years. Because I wrote for many years for the LA Weekly I´m still on a list where I receive film screeners and all sorts of swag. The screeners don´t come in the form of a VHS tape or DVD like they did in the olden days before the Rains of Ranchipur. These days they send you a link where you can watch something for a limited time. The film I was treated to was the toy flicker Barbie. I was excited because this film has become such an event horizon, and I certainly appreciate a good happening. We saw the film at the Cubix Theater at Alexanderplatz. I´ve only been to this multi-plex a few times and that was during The Berlinale Film Festival. It´s not my favorite place to see a movie. The audience members all came dressed in various modes of pink. I also wore a pink turban on my head. I must admit that the film underwhelmed me, though I did enjoy the movie´s stars except for Will Farrell who I can´t quite understand how he has become a film star. The man is butt fugly and has absolutely no charisma. At least Adam Sandler is somewhat cute, especially when he was younger. The best part of the film was Weird Barbie and text shamelessly stolen from Virginie Despentes´ King Kong Theory.

I was aghast how the general movie going audience has lost all sense of proper decorum when seeing a film in a public setting. Many people were talking throughout the film and on their mobile phones-horrors.

Poor sadder then sad Ansa Latz. His wife wisely left his sorry ass--smart woman. He has been an associate at a law firm (a job I got for him) for over 25 years and will NEVER make partner. He didn´t exactly graduate from the top of his class from law school, but thats another long tedious tale. I can´t believe I ever fell for this character. Well I take that back. The reason I did have a crush on him was he was enormously attractive when he was young. Some people have a short shelf life of looking good. Today Ansa Latz is unrecognizable from the person I met in the early 1990s. It doesn´t help matters that he is an alcoholic. What is it about liquor that bloats and distorts ones face and body into a Lucian Freud painting? I have to thank Ansa for warning me that if we were lovers I´d be very disappointed in his prowess in bed. I´ve known two of his ex bed partners and both attest he has a strange way of making love that is somewhat mathematical in its mechanic structure. Ansa wanted a normative life that included being married and having children, owning a home yaddy, yaddy, yaddy.

Well at least he has the comfort of his long lasting friendship with Raoul Vesti. Grifty Raoul is one of the many people that Ansa met through me when he first moved to Los Angeles. Raoul should be careful as Ansa has a collection of pistols, guns and rifles and I could easily see him turning into one of those mass shooters that have become ubiquitous in the United States.

The Altar of Camp - Mae West is a series of works in tribute to Maria Norrman’s long time favorite Hollywood star Mae West (1893-1980.)
At the opening of the exhibition Växa, Norrman will give a lecture performance and seance in which she will request the presence of the star herself by using her textile artwork and wearing a headdress which is devoted to Mae West. Norrman will speak about Mae West, her legacy and on Norrmans relation to West.

Tiger Strikes Asteroid Los Angeles is pleased to present Växa, a group exhibition of work by artists from Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Iran. Växa is the Swedish word for growth. It can be biological growth, like when plants grow or how an artificial intelligence expands on the internet. It can also be personal growth, or how a person can grow; possibly beyond the limits of this realm.

Each of the artists approaches growth individually as a subject or concept which translates across mediums such as video, performance, sand drawings, painting and sculpture. This creates new exchanges between the works, which with common threads reach out to each other, forming new connections.

The exhibition includes the artists Emm Berring, Arngrimur Borgthorsson, Maja Gade, Johan Lundin, Bahareh Mirhadinezhadfard, Ina Nian, andMaria Norrman. They are members of Galleri CC, a non-commercial, artist-run gallery located in Malmö, Sweden.

The exhibition is part of the ScandiLA exchange program between Swedish run project spaces and Los Angeles run art spaces. Earlier this summer artists from Tiger Strikes Asteroid Los Angeles have exhibited in Galleri CC in Sweden.

The latest and best incarnation features lovesexy talent Jamie Stewart, ravishing genius Angela Seo and masterly Dave Kendrick (late of Glen Meadmore`s Kuntry Band, Gleaming Spires, Devo, Sparks and Visiting Kids which featured Nancye Ferguson and Scarlette Rouge the daughter of Michéle Lamy).

silent green crematorium in Berlin Wedding is the best venue to see XiuXiu and I felt so lucky to witness their alchemy supporting new release Ignore Grief. The entire throng in the kuppelhalle was transported to a majestic musical delirium.

I first met the beautiful Mr. Stewart when he was a retiring, shy weenager from the San Fernando Valley fronting two bands Ten in the Swear Jar and Ibopa which played at my Sunday afternoon beer bust and performance space Club Sucker at the Garage in Silverlake from 1994-1999.

In 2015 Jamie wrote the score to my libretto for a re-imagining of Mozart´s the Magic Flute as a performative installation under the direction of CHEAP kollektiv`s Susanne Sachsse. Our version called The Magic Flute Part One: An Opera in Six Steps which the New York Times senior critic Holland Cotter called the best art event of 2015.

I read a poem of Jamie´s that is featured in the song "Faith Torn Apart" that was on XiuXiu´s album Forget from 2016.

At the XiuXiu performance at silent green tons of celebrity fans came out of the feral woodworkings including gorgeous and talented choreographer/dancers Laurie Young & Assaf Hochman aka: Blood of Abraham, artiste extroidinaire Wolfgang Mayer of Discoteca Flaming Star, Sydney Christensen of Kill Rock Stars, the handsome Canadian singer Abel Tesfaye aka: The Weeknd, actresses Franka Potente, Jella Haase & Sophie Rois, well hung, young German stars David Kross, Max Riemelt, Kostja Ulllmann, Dimitrij Schaad, Jannik Schümann, Ken Duken, Tom Wlaschiha, and Alexander Fehling.
