BLAZING GRIEF

Was taken to a lovely luncheon  at the old school Berlin restaurant Borchardt on Franzosische Strasse  by the beautiful and glamorous Daphne´ Cousineau who is the managing director of Valentino Couture.  I haven´t seen Madame Cousineau since she lived in Los Angeles with her hot handsome husband Olivier and worked for Vivendi Universal.  We had a joyous reunion, but upon arriving home I received a devastating phone call telling me of the sudden death of Dr. Jose Esteban Munoz at age 46.  Jose had been such a staunch supporter of my art life writing a chapter about me in his famed book Disidentifications.  I didn´t want to believe that Dr. Munoz was really gone so in a deluze adaise I went to Daniel Hendrickson´s annual Hannakuh Party where everyone present including Marc Siegel, Empress Stefanie Schulte Strathaus of Arsenal Institüt für film und video kunst, Nanna Heidenreich, Max Jorge Hinder Cruz and Senol Senturk shared their memories of the great writer, teacher and scholar.  Of course I wasn´t able to sleep at all that night tossing and turning as golden memories of Jose flooded my mind corpules.  The next evening I tried to drown my sorrow by going to see a screening of The Killers the 1946 film directed by Robert Siodmak starring hunky Burt Lancaster, Edmund O´Brian, Eva Gardner and a young William Conrad as a hired assassin.  Jose would have gotten such a kick out of seeing William Conrad before he became known as the pepperpot TV detective Cannon in the 1970s.  Second night with no sleep and something tells me that there are going to be many more sleepless winter evenings as 19 years studded with memories of Dr. Munoz overwhelm and annoint me.  Thank you to everyone who has called and emugged and my heart pours out to Jose´s familia in Florida and his NYC clan of colleagues and devoted students including his sister in the clothe Carmelita Tropicana and sweet young lover John-John.

THAT IRON CURTAIN SMILE

Someone just recently sent me a link about the romantic affairs of Anderson Cooper.  I can believe there is so much media interest in Mr. Cooper the handsome, silverfox TV presenter and son of heiress Gloria Vanderbuilt.  I feel a little bit responsible for this as I was the first person to write about him way back in the 1990s when no one knew who he was.  Its surprising that no one has tracked down one of his old boyfriends Treffley Bedard who I believe still lives on Oakhurst Drive in the 90210 section of Beverly Hills.  I am sure Treffley who when I knew him was quite the juicy sex boy has quite the percolating story to tell.

Two of my former Weissensee Art Akademy students have a new project.  Please read about it here and attend:

Kotti Shop/Copyroboter (Annette Knol) and Material Mafia (Katja von Helldorff) have been working together since a long time printing, drawing, combining techniques and sharing inspiration. Annette and me are both pretty much under the influence of travelling in our minds, and probably just as you dreaming of being somewhere else than in the cold grey wet Berlin weather ... for example: lying in the shadow of a coconut tree .
These are the main reasons why we decided to show some of our graphic work together and invite you to dream of COCONUT MILK with us !

SATURDAY 7TH OF DECEMBER from 15h is the opening of the exhibition
at Werkstatt für Experimente / Material Mafia : KUGLERSTR 61, 10439 Berlin
it runs until the 30th of december
opening hours: saturdays 15-18h, tuesdays 15-17h  and by appointment : 0163 989 33 85
it would be lovely to see you all there !

Went to the Kino Arsenal to see a screening of Otto Preminger’s film version of Francoise Sagan’s Bonjour Tristesse.  I really love this 1957 film starring the young and ravishing Jean Seberg in some Rick Owens looking Givenchy gowns, David Niven, Deborah Kerr, the very effective Mylene Demongeot  and hunky Geoffrey Horne who is now an acting  professor at NYU. I was surprised there was such a big crowd for the film.
